Instead of as a measure
For a life you'll spend together
You should already have wed
By the time vows are said
The veil is merely fabric
The reception...a tactic
The ring is but a metaphor
To unite under common law
Immaterial of today
And what anyone here could say
It's your love that's the truth
Over ceremony, tradition or couth.
